Some Monday Thoughts

Happy Monday, everyone! I feel like it’s always Monday and this one feels like a doozy. I am a procrastinator by nature and am so behind on everything this week. That was one of my goals for this year and so far, I’m not doing so hot! I guess that’s the great thing about Monday though, it’s a great time to start over on those goals.

Every once and a while I start to feel silly about being a fashion blogger and about my Instagram. Not because I’m embarrassed but because it seems so frivolous to be posting pictures of my self and what I wear. On the outside, it seems so vain and maybe part of it is, if I’m being honest. I don’t know how it wouldn’t be categorized as being vain. It’s such a fad right now, to try and be Instagram famous. Instagram is such a funny thing. I love it and I hate it at the same time. On one hand I have connected with the most amazing women and am so grateful for that but on the other hand, I find myself getting caught up in numbers and comparing myself to someone else’s insane growth and I’m wondering why mine isn’t growing as fast as theirs. But that doesn’t matter!!! And it’s so annoying that I start thinking like that. I am not doing this to be famous. I am doing it because I have always been passionate about clothing and piecing together outfits, from a very young age. It has always been a happy place for me, so to start a style blog is the most natural thing for me and is something that gives me a lot of joy and motivation. When I start to feel silly, I guess it’s because I don’t want people to think I’m trying to be cool or impress people. It’s not that at all. I just love fashion and also love helping people figure out what to wear. I’m not trying to make people go broke but more like help put together different things that maybe you already have or one piece that can be worn multiple different ways so that you get your money’s worth! I don’t put on a front with anyone. What you see is what you get. I wear the same pieces over and over and have no shame posting that! I am not a “wear only once” kind of person. That’s not real life to me. Also I just want to say that if anyone I know is reading this and you want to unfollow me on Instagram but feel bad, don’t feel bad!! I totally understand and know that my style or what I’m doing is not for everyone. You will not offend me!

There is a quote that resonates with me and it’s “I’m not interested in competing, I hope we all make it” and that is exactly how I feel. I hope that I make people feel that way and make you feel supported. I appreciate all my readers and followers so much. Thanks for following along!

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

XO,

Mary ❤️

    Sweet Mary,
I am so thankful for you blog! As you know I’m a WFHM and don’t have time to get out and shop! I have bought multiple outfits from your blog + have gotten so much inspiration for outfits!!!! God gives us passions for a reason and He will use you right where you are!!! Proud of you!

  2. Mary that quote is one of my favorites too! I love following you and I am so glad we connected! You have such amazing style but such a great heart! Blogging can be so hard sometimes because I definitely start worrying about numbers and my growth pattern, so I always need the reminder of why I started this! Love this post!

Thank you, Bryn! I’m so glad we connected too and we need to meet for coffee soon since we live in the same city!!!

  3. Mary! I’ve felt the same way. Sometimes I think this is so vain and feel people think I do this to get attention, but that’s far from the truth. Just like you I’ve always loved putting outfits together and having a style blog is something I love to do. I never even played with dolls because I just like bed to “sew clothing for them” in a corner while my sisters played. Now I try to go through my “main-caregiver-days” trying to look good but mostly comfortable and I love to help other moms do it too. I’m so thankful I found you through this community. I enjoy your posts so much and just so you know you’re one of those I say “how is she growing so rapidly?” Haha

To stay dedicated to something you’re so passionate about is wonderful and I’m proud of you for sticking to what you love. Don’t worry so much about what others think of you. We can’t please everyone. Do what makes you happy and grateful to be alive. Those closest to you, will always support you and because you’re a good soul, you will always have success. I love that you’re someone who builds people up and is all about women empowerment and wanting everyone to succeed. I’m glad we connected and I’m thankful to call you a friend and fellow blogger!
